Mike Silver is a seasoned corporate finance professional with over 15 years advising on value enhancing mergers and acquisitions and industry leading capital raising transactions across a full array of sectors. He is the Founder of VLCTY Capital Partners Ltd., with a focus on giving ethical and effective guidance to his global network and identifying unique opportunities to unlock value for clients. Mike is also the Co-Founder and Director of Lotus Gold Corporation, a Canadian domiciled, leading Egyptian gold exploration company. Previously, he led HSBC’s Americas mining advisory franchise, and beforehand worked with (Stifel) GMP Securities, BMO Metals & Mining, as well as BofA Merrill Lynch. Mike earned an MBA from RSM Erasmus University, in the Netherlands, and a BCom from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.
Bob brings over three decades of experience in managing technology, building brands, and raising capital for early-stage companies. Following years of government service in Washington DC, he joined Texas Instruments working alongside senior management teams to integrate new technologies for its global clients. Throughout his career, Bob has been at the disruptive edge of emerging markets. Most recently, he has been evaluating cleantech companies for their compelling technologies, exceptional management teams and growth potential. Based in Toronto, Bob connects the Fund to his international network of thought leaders, innovative entrepreneurs and investors. He is a supporter of Energy Storage Association, Responsible Investment Association, MaRS and CleanTech North. He graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in International Energy Economics, attended Oxford University in International Business Management and holds an MBA in Operations Management from Marquette University.
Alex is an energy policy and government relations consultant based in Toronto. Formerly serving as a Policy Advisor to Ontario’s Minister of Energy, Northern Development & Mines, his current focus is on distributed energy resources and grid innovation. He is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal with a degree in International Development Studies and Economics. Alex brings to the Advisory Panel insights on changes in public policy, government investment, regulatory change as it impacts investment opportunities for the Fund.
For almost two decades Bryan has advised and supported investors, all levels of government, NGOs, and companies at all stages of growth across many sectors – from start-up to successful exit. As Managing Director of CleanTech North and as a founding Director of the Ontario Clean Technology Industry Association, Bryan is a leader in Canada’s cleantech community and brings an unparalleled network of clean technology investors and investment opportunities to RET Fund and the Industry Expert Advisory Panel. Bryan is also a Partner at Flow Ventures; a boutique firm that has provided value-added SR&ED services to hundreds of companies across Canada for over fifteen years. Bryan has long been involved in the venture capital community, having served as Executive Director of the National Angel Capital Organization and Angel Investors Ontario. Bryan completed his Master’s in management, Economics and International Relations at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, on the only full Chevening Scholarship awarded in Canada and was later honoured to be selected as a Tanenbaum Fellow.
